Alles anzeigenHello everyone,
After my introduction, here is my first "real" contribution - I would like to buy a Tiguan 1 soon and would like to know what I should look out for when buying it. I've looked around a bit on the used market and would tend roughly in this direction:
- facelift model
- Motorization 2.0 TDI 140 HP or the BMT with 177 HP
- DSG (unfortunately there is no longer a converter, I would definitely like to have an automatic)
- all wheel drive
- air conditioning
- cruise control
- Multifunctional steering wheel
- seat heating
- trailer hitch
- Parking distance control, at least in the rear, better also in the front, preferably with a reversing camera.
That would be it with the mandatory equipment, which I don't really want to deviate from. The highest possible trailer load would be important to me, in connection with DSG these engines always have 2200kg in the facelift, regardless of the equipment variant, right? According to my research, there doesn't seem to be a Tiguan 1 with DSG and 2500kg trailer load.
Is there anything about the engines that speaks for or against the two variants? Cheaper insurance contract is available, type class so almost irrelevant. Green plaque would be important if both should bring them. There won't be any short-distance use, I wouldn't have any problems with a used one with increased mileage. Are there any years of construction that I should rather avoid because of teething problems?
Good light would also be important to me, since I'm often out and about at night. Bi-xenon or halogen and then these new legal LED lights inserts from Philips or Osram?
What would you recommend for interior design? I would probably do without the panoramic roof, which seems to be problematic. Fabric, Alcantara, leather - what has worked here?
On the subject of navigation: I would very much like to display Apple Car Play. Is there a Plug&Play solution for this? I had the RNS510 in the Multivan, but at some point I really missed this feature there. A hands-free system that works with current smartphones would also be good. Pay attention to this when buying or rather retrofit?
Last, but not least: I would love adaptive cruise control, especially for towing a trailer. But that wasn't the case with the Tiguan 1, or at most it was very rare, right?
Questions upon questions... It would be nice if you could give me a little help here, so that I can soon be on the road here as a Tiguan driver
Best regards and thanks in advance for your support,
Marius
Hi Marius,
Congratulations on your decision to purchase a Tiguan 1! It seems like you have done some research and have a good idea of the specifications and features you are looking for. Let's address your questions and concerns:
- Trailer load and DSG: You are correct that the Tiguan 1 facelift models with DSG typically have a towing capacity of 2200kg. The higher 2500kg towing capacity is usually available with manual transmission variants. It's important to confirm the towing capacity of the specific vehicle you are considering as it can vary based on the engine and drivetrain configuration.
- Engine options: Both the 2.0 TDI with 140 HP and the BMT with 177 HP are solid engine choices. The 177 HP variant offers slightly more power and may provide better performance, especially if you plan on towing. However, the 140 HP engine should still offer sufficient power for most driving scenarios. Consider your specific needs and preferences when deciding between the two.
- Lighting: If good lighting is important to you, consider opting for models with bi-xenon headlights or the newer legal LED inserts from reputable brands like Philips or Osram. These options generally provide better visibility and illumination compared to standard halogen headlights.
- Interior design: The choice of fabric, Alcantara, or leather upholstery is subjective and depends on your personal preferences. Leather tends to be more luxurious and durable, but it may require more maintenance. Alcantara offers a combination of comfort and durability, while fabric upholstery can be a practical and cost-effective choice.
- Navigation and Apple CarPlay: To have Apple CarPlay functionality, look for Tiguan models equipped with an infotainment system that supports it. Retrofitting options may be available, but it's recommended to check with a Volkswagen dealer or authorized service center for compatibility and installation options.
- Adaptive cruise control: Adaptive cruise control was not widely available in the Tiguan 1, especially in earlier model years. It was introduced as an option in some later models, but it may be relatively rare to find in the used market. If adaptive cruise control is important to you, it might be worth expanding your search or considering newer Tiguan models that offer this feature.
